2027: APC govs distance themselves from Wike-led rainbow coalition, deny alliance

All Progressives Congress (APC) governors have distanced themselves from any coalition or alliance with individuals ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to the APC Governors Forum Chairman, Hope Uzodimma. Speaking at the conclusion of a governors' meeting in Abuja, Uzodimma emphasized that they remain committed to the APC and its political structure, asserting that they have not formed any formal agreement with any individual or opposition party.

Meanwhile, Nyesom Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Leader, has been leading a Rainbow Coalition movement in Rivers State to support President Bola Tinubu. Wike has accused some APC governors, including Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Uzodimma, of hindering his political progress due to the expanding influence of his coalition, which aims to challenge the ruling party's candidates in the upcoming elections.

In response to Wike's claims and attempts to strengthen his political position, the APC governors have firmly stated that they will not entertain any arrangement that could create confusion, divided loyalty, or competing interests within the party. The focus of the APC Governors Forum is to support official APC candidates at all levels, rather than promoting external interests, Uzodimma clarified during the meeting.
