Yemeni PM: Government rebuilding strength to retake Hodeidah, end Houthi coup

Yemen's Prime Minister Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani affirmed the government's resolve to reestablish state authority in Hodeidah and nationwide, while simultaneously addressing the humanitarian crisis. During a meeting in Aden with Hodeidah Governor Al-Hasan Taher, Al-Zandani highlighted that the struggle to fully restore state power extends beyond frontlines. He emphasized that Yemenis are fighting to safeguard the republic, sovereignty, and the nation's future against the Iranian-backed Houthi regime.

The prime minister stressed that the government is working to rebuild its strength and reclaim the initiative, with the ultimate objective of ending the coup and restoring state institutions in Hodeidah and across the country. Regarding ongoing events along Yemen's western coast, Al-Zandani stated that the Houthis have employed a pattern of subjugating communities through killings, repression, displacement, and seizing property.

He vowed that these atrocities will not be forgotten and pledged to document the violations to hold perpetrators accountable.

Addressing the humanitarian aspect, Al-Zandani ordered authorities to swiftly receive displaced individuals and provide them with essential necessities. He commended local authorities in provinces and affected areas for their efforts. The prime minister emphasized that the displacement represents a national responsibility necessitating broad governmental, humanitarian, and international support. He stressed the importance of not leaving host communities and displaced people to bear the consequences of the escalation alone.
