King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center launches relief project for Mindanao earthquake victims in Philippines

Al-Ahsa Governor Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr inaugurated the enhanced King Abdullah Road and Riyadh Road junction on Tuesday evening, ahead of the projected timeline. The inauguration brought together Al-Ahsa Mayor Essam bin Abdulatif Al-Mulla and key local officials. The project is anticipated to markedly enhance road system performance and alleviate traffic congestion on a primary corridor within the governorate.

Evaluating the project’s efficiency, completion came six months early, showcasing accelerated development, improved project management, and a steadfast commitment to high-quality infrastructure work. The governor attributed Al-Ahsa's rapid progress to the unwavering support of King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the Eastern Province’s leadership.

This early completion of the King Abdullah-Riyadh Road junction underscores the region’s dedication to prompt, top-tier construction and safety standards. The project represents a collaborative effort among stakeholders, promising to elevate traffic efficiency and overall travel experience in Al-Ahsa.

Emphasizing the significance of upgrading road networks, the governor highlighted that such improvements serve sustainable development, fuel urban and economic growth, and elevate the quality of life—aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and solidifying Al-Ahsa’s status as an emerging economic and tourist hub. During the ceremony, the governor toured the project’s components and phases, gaining insight into the engineering and operational strategies aimed at enhancing road safety and accommodating both present and future traffic volumes.

Mayor Essam Al-Mulla hailed the project as a strategic move to modernize the road network and critical intersections. He emphasized that its timely completion indicates strong execution and quality standards, while its innovative designs will bolster safety measures, traffic flow, and the cityscape. The project features a 1,500-meter tunnel with three lanes per direction, complemented by elevated service roads.

Construction entailed approximately 40,000 cubic meters of concrete, 55,000 square meters of paving, and 2,500 linear meters of stormwater drainage.

In addition to these structural enhancements, urban beautification efforts include 4,000 square meters of decorative artwork, 1,300 linear meters of motifs reflecting Al-Ahsa’s heritage, the planting of 2,500 trees and shrubs, and the installation of 140 lighting poles. The upgraded King Abdullah-Riyadh Road intersection stands as a pivotal element of Al-Ahsa’s transportation infrastructure, fostering connectivity, bolstering transit services, and elevating the overall standard of urban living—solidifying Al-Ahsa’s position as a forward-thinking destination for development, commerce, and tourism.
