Women For Change raises concern over Kempton Park killings

Women For Change, an advocacy group, has expressed deep concern over the rising number of women being killed in South Africa, despite gender-based violence and femicide being classified as a national disaster. The organization's spokesperson, Merlize Jogiat, highlighted the disparity between the numerous conferences held to discuss the issue and the lack of tangible change experienced by women in the communities.

Jogiat emphasized the need to move beyond mere discussions and implement practical solutions to address the pressing matter. She pointed out that women continue to struggle with reporting incidents to the police, only to have their cases dismissed and forced to endure their perpetrators' continued abuse. The group's concerns were further underscored by the recent discovery of five women's bodies in the Kempton Park and Olifantsfontein area.

Among the victims was Elizabeth "Tsotso" Moselakgomo, a runner who had gone for a jog and never returned home, with her body later identified at a mortuary.
