U-20 WWC: There are more opportunities – Asamoah Gyan tells Black Princesses despite exit

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana's all-time leading goalscorer, has encouraged the country's U-20 women's football team to maintain their faith despite their early exit from the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. The Black Princesses were eliminated after a 4-0 loss to France in their final Group C match on Saturday, 12 September. Although Ghana had a challenging start with a 3-0 defeat to Ecuador, they bounced back with a 3-0 win against South Korea.

However, the defeat to France resulted in just three points, and the team failed to advance to the knockout stages.

Speaking to the squad after their elimination, Gyan urged the players not to lose hope and emphasized that there are more opportunities ahead. "There are more opportunities," he said. "I know some of you will be asking yourselves, ‘Where do we go from here? What are we going to do?’ But I can assure you that nobody knows tomorrow."

The former Black Stars captain urged the players to stay committed to their development, praising their performances and encouraging them to keep their faith high. "Just have faith in yourself. Keep on doing your training. Keep your faith high," said Gyan. He ended his message by emphasizing that the team's elimination should be used as motivation for the future.

"We are out, but we are not done. From here, we think about ourselves. We think about how we are going to come back stronger."
