Two Fall Ill After Consuming Liquor In Bakswaha, One Referred To Damoh

Two individuals in the Bakswaha area of Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, fell ill after consuming liquor purchased from separate establishments, according to reports. This incident has raised concerns regarding the safety and quality of alcohol being sold in the region, especially following the Banda liquor tragedy.

The first victim, a resident of Bara village in Banda tehsil, claimed he bought liquor from a shop in Bamhori, Bakswaha. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Sagar due to his deteriorating health. However, the police revealed that the man had consumed alcohol in Banda before purchasing the liquor in Bakswaha. Consequently, the exact cause of his illness remains uncertain.

The second patient, identified as Bharat Yadav from Kui village, stated he had purchased liquor from a shop in Bakswaha. Yadav was hospitalized after falling ill and was later transferred to Damoh for further treatment following initial medical attention. Block Medical Officer Dr Satyam Asati informed that the patient was referred as a precautionary measure after receiving primary treatment. Asati added that medical tests would be conducted to ascertain whether the illness was indeed caused by liquor consumption.

Bakswaha police station in-charge Inspector Prashant Sen confirmed both cases had come to the attention of the police. The authorities are currently monitoring the illegal liquor trade in the region and taking necessary actions upon receiving information.
