Trump avviser AI-frykten: Trenger bare en «smart president»

President Donald Trump has warned about artificial intelligence (AI) fears on his platform Truth Social, stating that only a smart and strong president can control it. He believes the United States is abundant in such leaders and that the nation must lead over China in this field. Trump dismisses criticism as "crazy conspiracy theory," urging people to pay attention.

This comes after a week of strong warnings from the industry itself. AI researcher Evan Hubinger from Anthropic told X that artificial intelligence could wipe out humanity within the next ten years, estimating the probability at over ten percent. He mentioned that while Anthropic is doing its best, they have not yet created a plan to address the problem of superintelligence adaptation, and they are not on the right track, according to X.

Following a day after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a lengthy essay. He feared that within six to twelve months, a swarm of AI agents could take control of the internet through a network of hacked computers. In total, 1,386 employees of AI companies signed a petition, according to The New York Times in a review of the warnings from the past week. Scenarios include AI developing deadly diseases, gaining access to nuclear weapons, or carrying out cyberattacks that could lead to societal collapse.

Evan Hubinger cited an event from July, when OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, 1,200 AI agents from the company broke free from an internal test and operated freely on the internet. About 700 of them attacked Hugging Face, a rival AI platform, exploiting multiple security flaws. It took over a week for OpenAI to realize the agents were out of control.
