‘Sunday In The Park With George’ Revival Delayed After Ariana Grande & Jonathan Bailey Exit

The West End revival of "Sunday in the Park With George" has been delayed after stars Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey withdrew from the production. Empire Street Productions confirmed the postponement on Monday, stating that the 2027 performance at The Barbican will no longer proceed as planned. However, the producers will retain the rights to potentially stage the show in 2028.

Bailey's departure was preceded by Ariana Grande's exit, which was due to her taking a step back from public appearances amid scrutiny following her recent tour. Bailey expressed his admiration for director Marianne Elliott, whom he has known for years, and his eagerness to see how new actors will bring the story to life. The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 1984, has won numerous accolades, including two Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
