Students can’t suffer over college’s dispute: MP High Court orders BHMS registration

On September 9, the Madhya Pradesh High Court intervened in a dispute between a group of Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) graduates and their college, ruling that students should not suffer due to regulatory issues. Justice Milind Ramesh Phadke noted that the students had already completed their coursework, examinations, internship, and received provisional registration.

The court emphasized that regulatory disputes between the college and authorities should not continue indefinitely at the expense of the students who have already been recognized academically. The court also pointed out that the State Council of Homoeopathy had already granted provisional registration to the petitioners in 2023, after verifying their educational status, and that the award of degrees and completion of internship further strengthened their case for permanent registration.

The High Court stated that the State Council could not indefinitely delay the registration process merely by referring to unresolved communications or a regulatory dispute between the institution and the National Commission for Homoeopathy.
