Samarahan API dips to moderate 98 at 8am today, Kanowit and Lundu also return to moderate levels

KUCHING, Sept 14 — The Air Pollutant Index (API) in Samarahan fell to a moderate level of 98 by 8am today, having dropped from an unhealthy 147 at 9pm yesterday. Kanowit and Lundu, too, moved into the moderate zone, with API readings of 97 and 94 respectively, down from 133 and 112 at 9pm yesterday. Lubok Antu remained the sole location with very unhealthy air quality, with an API of 205, up slightly from 202 at 9pm.

Other areas, including Sri Aman, Samalaju, Miri's Industrial Training Institute, and Limbang, also showed slightly higher API readings but remained in the unhealthy category. Conversely, several locations, such as Bario, Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu, Mukah, and Kapit, recorded improved moderate air quality, with API readings ranging from 62 to 83 at 8am.

The API levels in Miri and Lawas remained steady at 67 and 60, respectively, at 8am. Good air quality was only observed in Bario, where the API increased slightly to 40 from 38 at 9pm. The API scale categorizes 201 to 300 as Very Unhealthy, 101 to 200 as Unhealthy, 51 to 100 as Moderate, and 0 to 50 as Good.
