A 30-year-old fisherman, Evans Okoth Ager, tragically drowned while attempting to escape beach patrol in Ngegu Beach, Rangwe Sub-County, on Saturday, September 12, around 8 p.m. Ager was part of a group of four fishermen who had been fishing in a protected fish-breeding area when they encountered a beach patrol team. After diving into the lake, Ager was unable to be found by his colleagues.

His body was discovered on Sunday, September 13, at around 5 p.m., within the Ngegu Beach area. Police processed the scene and the body was taken to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. There were no visible external injuries, but blood was noted oozing from Ager's mouth. Separately, a 22-year-old man, Felix Mwendwa Kibuye, was killed by his brother-in-law in Nkonde area, Tharaka South Sub-County, on the same day.

The dispute involved a disagreement over a sum of Sh1,500. Kibuye had gone fishing and returned home to collect the owed money when he and his brother-in-law argued over the payment. This escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in Kibuye suffering a stab wound to his left chest. His body was moved to Marimanti Level 4 Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and no arrest has been made in connection with his death.
