Govt opens door to more vehicle inspection centres: Anthony Loke

Sungai Buloh, Malaysia - The government plans to open more MV15 vehicle inspection centres throughout the country to enhance accessibility for vehicle owners, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke. The government does not plan to restrict the number of operators, allowing any eligible company to apply for a license. Loke emphasized that more centers would provide vehicle owners with increased choices and a more convenient experience.

MV15 inspections are mandatory for private vehicles undergoing a change of ownership. The government transitioned from a single-operator concession system to a multi-operator licensing system following the expiration of the previous concession on August 31, 2024. Inspection fees at licensed centers remain standardized and regulated by the government, with operators competing through service quality, transparency, and efficiency rather than pricing.

The newly inaugurated Sungai Buloh centre, Malaysia's first MV15 inspection center backed by an automotive training institution, can perform up to 90 inspections daily and approximately 2,300 inspections monthly. It integrates vehicle inspection services with Carsome Academy's technical and vocational education programs. Customers can schedule appointments digitally, and inspection records are transmitted directly to systems connected to the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

Carsome Group co-founder and CEO Teoh Jiun Ee stated that the center aims to develop skilled inspectors, uphold high inspection standards, and boost trust in the vehicle ownership transfer process.
