Russia-Ukraine-US Trilateral Talks Could Take Place In October: Kremlin

The Kremlin has suggested that a trilateral meeting among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States to end the ongoing conflict could be held in October, according to Russian media. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that while they do not rule out such a possibility, it is a matter for the foreseeable future.

The United States has been attempting to revive peace talks for the conflict that has lasted over four years. U.S. negotiators have visited both Kyiv and Moscow, and President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have spoken on the phone. However, several previous attempts at negotiations have failed, and U.S.-led efforts stalled due to Trump's focus on the U.S.-Iran conflict in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed willingness to meet with Putin at the G20 summit in Miami in December. However, Kremlin spokesman Peskov has rejected this proposal, stating it is "impossible" and insisting that any meeting must take place in Moscow. Moscow has insisted that any meeting can only occur in the Russian capital.

The situation has escalated recently, with both Moscow and Kyiv increasing long-range strikes against each other, resulting in the highest civilian death toll since the early stages of the war. Earlier rounds of negotiations have also failed, with Moscow unwilling to make concessions, including its demand that Ukraine cede territory in the east that Russian forces have not captured.

Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov noted that there was no "coordinated package" for negotiations, highlighting the complexity of the issues at hand.
