Rivers Assembly summons PAMO varsity VC, others over scholarship funds

The Rivers State House of Assembly has summoned officials, including the Vice-Chancellor of PAMO University of Medical Services and key state representatives, to investigate the allocation of scholarship funds. This occurred after the House rejected a proposed N6 billion allocation for the university in the state's budget. The summonses, issued in accordance with the Nigerian Constitution, were prompted by an ad-hoc committee's preliminary report, which informed the House of the invited parties' intention to examine the use of funds previously allocated to the university.

The House aims to determine if the funds were utilized appropriately. Officials were notified of the summons on Monday and are expected to appear before an ad-hoc committee of the House on September 16. The Speaker emphasized the importance of honoring the summons, stating the House's constitutional right to summon individuals for evidence and document production.
