Operation Launched Against Illegal Buildings Along Key Road in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated an operation targeting encroachments, illegal constructions, and buildings that do not comply with regulations along Islamabad Expressway. This effort, spearheaded by the CDA's Building Control Section and Enforcement Directorate, has been joined by the district administration and Islamabad Police. The campaign is being carried out along Islamabad Expressway Service Road East, with the aim of sealing and regularizing these structures.

Over 50 construction units have already been dealt with under this campaign. This includes 34 units located along the Sohan-Iqbal Town stretch, and 24 units situated between Korang Bridge, Korang Police Station, and Gulberg Greens. Authorities are currently surveying the remaining areas to identify further violations.

Commercial buildings found to have violated approved building plans and lacking mandatory fire safety arrangements have been a primary focus. The CDA has previously served notices to the owners, providing them with an opportunity to rectify the violations, complete necessary fire safety measures, regularize their constructions, and settle any outstanding government dues.

However, the notice period has now expired, yet several owners have failed to meet these requirements. Following this, the CDA moved forward with action in accordance with the applicable building control regulations.

The CDA is resolute that commercial buildings must adhere to approved building plans and maintain critical fire safety measures, which include having emergency exits and fire safety equipment.
