India secured their record eighth women's Asia Cup title on Sunday night in a dramatic display of cricketing excellence. However, the moment that followed was overshadowed by a controversy that mirrored a similar issue faced by the men's team a year prior. Instead of the customary jubilation and the sight of players lifting the trophy, the Indian women's team walked away from the presentation ceremony without receiving their silverware or the traditional photograph with the champions.

This decision echoed the stance taken by the men's team last year, where they also refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman, Mohsin Naqvi.

Despite the absence of the trophy, India's team expressed pride in their achievement, emphasizing that the victory itself was enough to mark them as champions. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains committed to resolving the trophy standoff, with BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia asserting that the team will eventually receive their Asia Cup after it has been held by the ACC headquarters in Dubai.

While the players may not have the trophy in their hands, their performance secured a significant accomplishment, and the BCCI is optimistic about the eventual resolution of the controversy, ensuring that India will eventually possess the Asia Cup trophies.
