Raja Muda Perlis dimasyhur canselor pertama UMAM

Raja Muda Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, has been honored as the first Canselor of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) for a period of five years. The ceremony took place at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), where he received the watikah from the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education and Higher Learning of the Republic of Indonesia, who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Center for Muhammadiyah. Dr. Abdul Mui represented the President of UMAM, Puan Haji Nashir.

In his address during the ceremony, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin expressed his hope that UMAM would continue to advance in terms of academic quality, research integrity, student welfare, and personal development. He emphasized that a university's progress cannot be measured solely by the number of students, programs, or achievements, but rather by the quality of its graduates and the benefits it provides to society.

As the Canselor, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin aims to see UMAM progress further by strengthening research in areas relevant to current needs, expanding international networks, and establishing strategic partnerships with other Muhammadiyah universities and higher education institutions in Southeast Asia. He also expressed hope that UMAM will continue to play the role of a friendship bridge, strengthening ties between Malaysia and Indonesia through education, which not only connects institutions but also builds networks of people, ideas, and experiences that can grow across generations.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also expressed confidence that UMAM, with the support of its committed leadership, strong administration, and dedication of all university members, will be able to grow significantly and become a highly respected institution at the national and regional levels.
