PSD to review initiatives to improve civil servants’ income

PUTRAJAYA: The Public Services Department is reviewing measures to enhance the income of civil servants, according to Director-General Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz. Civil servants are currently advised to manage their expenses wisely, as their salaries do not fall below the poverty line. The director-general stated that while civil servants' present salaries are not below the poverty line, it is primarily a matter of how they handle their expenditures.

Simultaneously, the department is assessing potential measures to further boost civil servants' income. Director-General Wan Ahmad Dahlan informed reporters, following the inauguration of the Public Sector Human Resource Management Conference 2026, that salary adjustments for civil servants have already been implemented through the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA).

Any additional initiatives would depend on the nation's financial capability. SSPA, enacted on December 1, 2024, represents a significant government initiative aimed at increasing staff motivation through a more competitive salary structure and a fairer, transparent performance assessment process.
