Poland pledges to strengthen security after drone strikes along border with Ukraine

WARSAW, Poland — In response to a series of Russian drone strikes near their shared border, Poland has pledged to strengthen security measures along its frontier with Ukraine. This announcement follows the discovery of two drones that had landed within kilometers of Polish soil. These incidents occurred as Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk cautioned that Russia may be preparing to step up its aggression against Ukraine's borders with European nations.

Ukraine has faced growing pressure from Russia's intensified air campaign, employing both ballistic missiles and drone attacks to breach defenses. Tusk highlighted that the coming weeks and months are expected to witness intensified actions from Russia, and expressed concern that this escalation could also impact Polish territory.

The Polish government has been actively briefed on these developments, and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Monday that the Polish military had recovered a suspected Russian military drone from the Baltic Sea, near the coastal village of Jaroslawiec. Intelligence reports, which included a briefing from the CIA, suggested that Russian military capabilities were being actively deployed in the region.
