Penjara 10 tahun, jual daging babi di kota suci

In Najaf, Iraq, a pork meat vendor has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling pork meat as beef in a city considered sacred by Shiite Muslims. The Supreme Court of Iraq ruled that the man was arrested in possession of 75kg of pork meat, stating that he was imprisoned for selling meat not suitable for consumption. Iraq does not ban the sale of pork meat, which has a Christian minority population.

The court's decision is based on a 1998 law that prohibits the sale of "dog meat or camel meat or any other meat not suitable for human consumption." The incident has drawn public attention, with citizens urging stricter food safety monitoring, while others shared photos of pigs with the caption "here in Najaf." Local resident Ahmad al-Mansouri was among those surprised: "I think I have consumed more pork meat than beef or lamb over the past few years.
