Pakistan lose 11 WTC points, fined 50% match fee after England whitewash

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined Pakistan 50% of their match fee and docked 11 World Test Championship points for a slow over-rate during the third and final Test against England in Birmingham. The ICC's press release stated that Pakistan was found to be 11 overs behind the target after accounting for time allowances.

Referees Ranjan Madugalli and umpires Paul Reiffel, Chris Gaffaney, Allahudien Palekar, and Russell Warren were responsible for the ruling. This sanction moves Pakistan to the bottom of the World Test rankings, with a points percentage of 4.63, down from their previous standing of 14.81. According to ICC rules, a team is penalized one point for each over they fail to bowl within the allocated time, with a maximum penalty of 50% of the match fee.

The Test match concluded on Saturday, with England securing a comprehensive 3-0 series victory over Pakistan by eight wickets. In May, Pakistan faced a similar penalty of 40% of their match fees and eight World Test Championship points for a slow over-rate during a Test match against Bangladesh.
