2027: Wike’s rainbow coalition will boost Tinubu’s chances, says ex-deputy speaker

Former Deputy Speaker Chibudom Nwuche has praised Nyesom Wike's Rainbow Coalition initiative, stating it has bolstered President Bola Tinubu's political support ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Nwuche, the Chairman of the South-South Development Commission, commended Wike's outstanding performance in the Federal Capital Territory, highlighting his political acumen and innovative thinking.

The coalition, according to Nwuche, has forged a crucial political bridge across party lines, allowing individuals and groups from opposition parties to back Tinubu’s re-election without severing ties to their original parties. Nwuche dismissed claims that the Rainbow Coalition would harm Tinubu’s chances, asserting that every additional constituency supporting the President strengthens his electoral prospects.

He also denied any confusion or uncertainty regarding the coalition's consensus governorship candidate in Rivers State, promising to work towards securing a massive vote for Tinubu and the coalition's candidate in the 2027 general elections. Nwuche urged politicians, especially those within the All Progressives Congress opposed to the Coalition, to focus their efforts on ensuring the President’s victory at the local levels rather than engaging in unfounded attacks on Wike and the Coalition.

He further appealed to Nigerians across various divides to support Tinubu’s re-election, emphasizing the need for continuity and stability to allow economic reforms to yield tangible benefits. Nwuche cautioned against being swayed by the "bogus promises, fanciful projections and economic hallucinations" of some presidential candidates, advocating for policies that ensure Nigeria’s progress and prosperity.
