NDLEA uncovers opioids in bread, arrests real estate agent

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made several drug seizures across various states in Nigeria. Operatives intercepted two consignments of synthetic cannabis, known as Colorado or Colos, originating from the United Kingdom. A real estate agent, Abideen Jide Salami, was arrested after allegedly collecting a large luggage containing the illicit substance using a secret code provided by his brother in the UK.

Another suspect, Nurudeen Abiodun Kadiri, was arrested for receiving 12.25kg of Colorado. In Lagos, a music speaker rigged with three packs of Colorado was recovered from a motor park, along with the consignee, Ifeanyi Augustine. In Iddo motor park, a suspect named Ifeanyi Nwokolo Henry was arrested for attempting to send 2.1kg of Colorado to Kano.

In Delta State, significant drug seizures were made, including ampoules of pentazocine injection, codeine syrup, tramadol, diazepam, flunitrazepam, and MDMA, all concealed in music speakers. In Kano State, NDLEA operatives arrested a 20-year-old man, Saidu Adamu, with 785,000 capsules of pregabalin weighing 669.425kg. Along the Zaria-Kano-Hadejia Road, 1,700 tablets of diazepam were seized, concealed inside loaves of bread.

In Plateau State, a 51-year-old man, Chinedu Uzor, was arrested with 157,100 capsules of tramadol. NDLEA also intensified its campaign against illicit cannabis cultivation, destroying 4,832.56kg of skunk in various forest areas across Edo State. In Ondo State, a 58-year-old man, Paul Ogbuwala, was arrested for attempting to transport 186kg of skunk to Jos.

In Kaduna State, a 58-year-old woman, Hannah Michael, was arrested with 369.6kg of cannabis. Four suspects, including a 70-year-old woman, were arrested in Bayelsa State with 110 bags of cannabis weighing 876kg. Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, urged personnel to continue combating drug cartels across all channels of drug transportation.
