MND Local: Independence Day in Puerto Vallarta and Nayarit

Puerto Vallarta and the state of Nayarit in Mexico are currently in the midst of Independence Week, with a flurry of patriotic celebrations and events planned throughout the region. From Monday, September 13th through Wednesday, September 16th, locals and visitors alike will be treated to a vibrant display of Mexican culture and tradition.

The festivities kicked off on Monday with a traditional charro parade, a colorful procession of horse-drawn carriages and folk dancers, starting at 10 a.m. from Ignacio L. Vallarta Street and ending near the Ley store in Cinco Diciembre. The celebrations continued into the evening at the Plaza de Armas, where a series of performances took place, including Mariachi Internacional Real de América and batucada dancers.

On Tuesday, September 15th, the official Independence Day celebrations began with a civic ceremony and parade in the Plaza de Armas. The day also saw the traditional Grito de Independencia, with fireworks lighting up the night sky over the Malecón. The cultural program, "México Vivo, Nayarit Eterno," continued into the evening, featuring various musical and dance groups before Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero led the final Grito de Independencia at 11 p.m.

Wednesday, September 16th, marks Mexico's official Independence Day, with a reenactment of the historic events leading up to the country's liberation. The traditional civic and military parade will be held in the morning, followed by a public celebration in the Plaza de Armas. Governor Navarro Quintero will once again lead the Grito de Independencia at 11 p.m., accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display and performances by Banda Ráfaga and La Session.
