Ligue 1: Paris Saint-Germain get first win of the season away at Brest

Paris Saint-Germain secured their first win of the Ligue 1 season with a 1-0 victory over Brest at Stade Francis-Le Ble on Sunday. The champions, led by new signing Ferran Torres, had previously struggled in their opening matches, collecting only two points from their first three games. Torres, who joined the French side from Barcelona earlier in the close season, scored a goal midway through the first half after being put through by Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele.

The striker has now scored six goals in five appearances across all competitions for PSG, contributing to their seventh-place standing in the league table. Brest paid tribute to their former coach Eric Roy, who passed away in June after battling pancreatic cancer. The hosts came close to a late equaliser but were denied by a disallowed goal and a late save from goalkeeper Matvey Safonov.

Elsewhere, Lyon's Ethan Mbappe redeemed himself after a Champions League red card earlier in the week by scoring a late goal in a 2-0 win over Troyes, helping Lille take the top spot in the Ligue 1 table.
