Korea to face Jordan in men's basketball quarterfinals at Asiad

Korea will face Jordan in the quarterfinals of the men's basketball tournament at the Asian Games, scheduled to take place this week in central Japan. The Asian Games began with two preliminary round games on Monday, just a day after Korea secured the top seed in Group A following a 100-83 win over Japan. In contrast, China dominated the competition with three consecutive victories in Group C, clinching the top overall position.

Both Korea and China posted impressive point differentials of +87 and +128, respectively, during the group phase. The other four teams vying for a spot in the quarterfinals are Iran, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Bahrain, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. While the top two teams were to face either the seventh or eighth seed, the situation changed as Korea and Saudi Arabia shared the same group, thus eliminating the possibility of a match-up between them.

Consequently, South Korea and Jordan are set to clash in the knockout round, marking a significant milestone for the Korean basketball team as they pursue their first Asian Games championship.
