Korea Heritage Service to bring Seokguram Grotto exhibition to Paris

In a celebration of the 140-year diplomatic relationship between Korea and France, the Korea Heritage Service (KHS) will showcase one of Asia's most revered spiritual and architectural wonders at an exhibition in Paris. Beginning October 1, "The Millennium Mystery of Buddhist Art: Seokguram" will be held at the Korean Cultural Center in France until March 13.

Organized in collaboration with the center, the Gyeongju city government, and other institutions, the exhibition aims to deliver an unparalleled experience of East Asian artistic legacy to the European continent.

Seokguram, an eighth-century stone grotto nestled near Gyeongju, houses a massive seated Buddha statue and stands as a pinnacle of Silla Dynasty Buddhist art. Recognized for its historical significance, Seokguram was among the initial Korean sites to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995. The exhibition will immerse visitors in a digital installation, projecting a three-dimensional scan of the grotto's interior onto the walls and floor of the center's auditorium.

Additionally, the show will feature a collection of photographs, as well as a tactile 3D model designed for visually impaired visitors.
