Heupel: Tight end Ethan Davis out for season with ACL injury for No. 15 Tennessee

Tennessee coach Josh Heupel announced on Monday that senior tight end Ethan Davis will miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury, affecting the 15th-ranked Volunteers. Heupel expressed his disappointment for Davis, acknowledging the significant effort and growth the player had achieved during his college career. Despite the unfortunate news, Heupel emphasized that the next tight end will need to capitalize on the opportunity presented by Davis's absence.

Davis had a remarkable start to his season, scoring the opening touchdown in the Volunteers' first possession during their 45-24 victory against Georgia Tech. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 247 pounds, Davis has made a substantial impact on the field, catching 39 receptions for 433 yards and scoring six touchdowns in his career.

His addition to the growing list of Volunteers impacted by season-ending injuries also includes wide receiver Joakim Dodson and starting safety Edrees Farooq. Tennessee is set to host Kennesaw State in a Saturday night game.
