(Photo: Envato Elements) GEORGE TOWN: The teacher accused of physically abusing the student has been temporarily placed under the supervision of the District Education Office (PPD).

The Pulau Pinang State Education Department (JPNPP) explained that the move was made immediately after receiving the student's complaint to ensure a regular investigation is carried out without compromising the well-being of the student and the school environment. "PPD is now conducting an investigation by obtaining statements from relevant parties and examining supporting evidence and documents," their statement read.

"Meanwhile, the well-being and welfare of the student is given priority. Psychological support and counseling sessions will be provided as needed throughout this period." JPNPP assured that their agency would not compromise any actions that could jeopardize the safety and welfare of the student. The investigation into the teacher's actions will be conducted fairly based on the facts and information obtained.

"Further actions against the teacher will be determined based on the findings of the investigation and the applicable regulations and procedures," they stated. Earlier, the Pulau Pinang Movement's Public Complaints Bureau urged JPNPP to conduct a comprehensive investigation regarding the allegation of abuse against a 9-year-old student at a national-type school in the West Coast region.

Their bureau head, Andrew Ooi, said the complaint was received on September 8, alleging the child suffered a bruise on the left side of their lower back and the left arm was believed to have been hit by a teacher.
