Fire Dept working with Public Service Dept to ensure welfare of two officers missing in Nepal

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 — The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) is ensuring the welfare of its two missing officers after flash floods hit Rasuwa, Nepal last month, according to its director-general Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad. The JBPM collaborated with the Public Service Department (PSD) to address concerns related to the two officers' salaries and pensions, he informed reporters at the Public Sector Human Resource Management Conference.

Deputy director of the Planning and Research Division Mohd Sani Harul is set to retire on September 23, while Central Region Academy officer Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa still has years left in his service. "We will refer the matter to PSD regarding their welfare," Nor Hisham stated. The two officers were among 10 Malaysians who traveled to Nepal on August 24 to reach Everest Base Camp (EBC).

The Foreign Ministry reported today that 55 Malaysians are still uncontactable following the floods and landslides in Nepal and China, with ongoing efforts to determine their status.
