Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen dominates coverage in Week 1 victory

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Riq Woolen made an impressive start to his first regular-season game with the team, showcasing his defensive prowess during a 24-22 victory over the Washington Commanders. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia reporter Ryan Fowler, Woolen was targeted four times but did not allow a single reception or receiving yard during the 37 snaps he played as a cornerback.

Washington's quarterback Jayden Daniels struggled to find success against Woolen, completing only 18 of his 34 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns. The rookie's performance demonstrated why Philadelphia had high expectations for him, signing him to a one-year contract during the offseason. Standing at 6-foot-4, Woolen provides defensive coordinator Vic Fangio with a valuable asset, combining size, length, and recovery speed at the outside cornerback position.
