DKU affirms that Tuanku Muhriz is the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan

On September 14, the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) of Negeri Sembilan deemed a document signed on September 5, aimed at deposing the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, as treasonous according to both adat and law. Four of the six signatories were found to hold positions they falsely claimed in the document, issued unlawful orders to officials, and attempted to remove Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir without the required state constitutional investigation.

The DKU stated that no government official should follow the September 5 document's instructions, and ordered the state administration to continue recognizing Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar. Furthermore, the DKU urged its secretary to file a police report against the six individuals, pointing out that four of them had signed the 2026 document without the rightful positions.

Concerns were raised about a reconciliation committee proposal, with the DKU stating that such matters fall under its jurisdiction as outlined in Article XVI of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution. The DKU reaffirmed its July 31 stance that the April 19 proclamation was invalid, as three of the signatories were not recognized Undang at the time, and that no investigation was conducted as mandated by Article X(1).

The DKU also noted that the first menteri besar's refusal to sign the April 20 proclamation made it null, and that a subsequent attempt to sign it was futile, as the function had already been fulfilled. The DKU emphasized that Tuanku Muhriz remains the legitimate Yang di-Pertuan Besar and head of the Dewan, and that no vacancy exists.

It clarified the current Undang holders: Datuk Klana Petra Muhammad Faris Johari (Sungei Ujong), Datuk Sedia Raja Haji Hassan Ab Hamid (Rembau), and Datuk Johan Pahlawan Lela Perkasa Setiawan Datuk Haji Muhammed Abdullah (Johol), with the Undang Luak Jelebu and Datuk Shahbandar Sungei Ujong positions vacant. The DKU concluded by requesting all parties to refrain from disseminating false information about the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and Undang institutions, stressing that these traditional institutions are a trust established for the benefit of the people and their heirs, not for any individual or party's gain.
