Delhi on IMD's alert as city braces for rainy season's last few wet spells — monsoon to withdraw soon

Delhi is under a yellow alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) as the city braces for the final wet spells of the rainy season, with the southwest monsoon expected to withdraw by September 21, according to PTI. The forecast predicts heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h in isolated areas.

The weather office has forecasted generally cloudy skies with a spell of very light to light rain during morning hours and another spell during the afternoon to evening. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to be around 32°C to 34°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be below normal by 1.6°C to -3.0°C, settling around 23°C to 25°C.

Wet weather conditions are expected to persist until September 17, with the southwest monsoon departure potentially delayed this year. Delhi has received 562.6 mm of rainfall so far, which is 52.6 mm more than the normal range of 510 mm.
