Bulldozer driver crushed to death in Long Seridan mishap, says Sarawak Fire Dept

MIRI, Sept 14 — A 45-year-old man named Mancha Lingan lost his life in a tragic incident in Long Seridan, Marudi, on September 13. The incident occurred when the bulldozer he was operating lost control, causing him to fall and become trapped under the machinery's tracks. The Marudi fire station responded to the remote location, approximately 261 kilometers away, with a team of four firefighters.

However, due to the challenging terrain, the journey took over seven hours, arriving at the scene at 9.49pm. Medical assistance was provided by a team from the Long Seridan Clinic, who confirmed the victim's death. Despite initial efforts to extricate Lingan from under the vehicle, firefighters were unable to do so. The team then sought help from a mechanic from Shin Yang company, who used specialized equipment to remove the bulldozer's crawler track chain, allowing for the victim's extraction.

The body was then handed over to the auxiliary police for further processing and transported to Marudi Hospital. Police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. They are actively seeking witnesses, recording statements, and have impounded the vehicle involved at the Marudi Police Station for further examination.
