Brad Binder bemoans lack of speed that cost him in San Marino

Brad Binder lamented his lack of speed, which ultimately cost him in the San Marino MotoGP. The Red Bull KTM rider concluded the main event in 11th place, starting from 19th on the grid. His performance was even worse in Saturday's sprint race, where he finished 14th and well outside the points. Currently, Binder is in 13th place in the championship standings with 83 points. With only eight races remaining, he aims to climb the ranks before transitioning to the World Superbike Championship next year.

Binder expressed his desire for increased speed, stating, "I tried my best from the beginning until the end but I was just not fast enough. The second half of the race was better but in the first I just didn’t have the speed. All weekend I’ve been battling to find the extra I need." He hopes for a significant improvement in Austria, which is KTM's home track and the second leg of the double header for the weekend.

The Red Bull Ring, where Binder secured his second premier class victory during the 2021 season, is expected to suit his style and the bike.

"I would have liked to be a bit more competitive," Binder added, "but next week we have Austria, and it’s a track that I think will suit my style a bit more and the bike too. I hope it goes better than here. Some work to do, for sure." Meanwhile, Marc Marquez claimed victory in San Marino, tying Jorge Martin at the top of the title race with 274 points. Marco Bezzecchi crashed out on the opening lap, while Ruché Moodley is still aiming to secure his first points of the Moto3 season, finishing in 21st place on Sunday.
