Bhayander Land Dispute: 81-Year-Old Man Seeks PM Modi's Intervention, CBI Probe Into Alleged Forgery

81-year-old former schoolmate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Asgarali Vohra, visited the Prime Minister seeking intervention in a longstanding land dispute in Bhayander. Vohra alleges that in 1989, he legally purchased around 2,810 square meters of land on Navghar Road, Bhayander East. He maintains that he never sold or transferred the property.

However, Vohra claims that in 2011, forged documents were allegedly created in collusion with Swayam Builders, resulting in the illegal division of the land into two parts. One portion was registered under Swayam Builders' name, while the other was placed under Seven Eleven Constructions, a firm linked to local BJP MLA Narendra Mehta, without Vohra's knowledge.

Vohra also accuses the Town Planning Department of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) of granting illegal construction permissions on his land. He further alleges that the MBMC, revenue department, and local police have failed to take action against those responsible for fabricating the forged documents.

Vohra filed an FIR regarding the alleged fraud in 2015, but the matter reached court only in 2026—a delay of 11 years according to Vohra. He expressed frustration over the slow progress, alleging that officials might be working under political pressure. Additionally, Vohra claims that contradictory counter-cases were filed against him in 2025 without providing him prior notice or an opportunity to defend himself.

After meeting with the Prime Minister, local civic administration took notice of Vohra's case. A formal hearing has been scheduled for September 16, and representatives from the involved construction companies have been directed to attend.
