Banvim-Dalogyili-Buhija Road: Farmers praise contractor as completed project boosts trade

Farmers in the Janton-Daboashie area of the North East Gonja District in the Savannah Region have welcomed the completion of the Banvim-Dalogyili-Buhija road project. The completion of the road has made it easier for them to transport their farm produce to nearby markets, reducing post-harvest losses. For years, the road had been a significant challenge due to the lack of bridges during the rainy season, leading to the rotting of maize, groundnuts, millet, tomatoes, pepper, and cassava on farms.

Residents are grateful for the completion of the work, with one resident expressing relief at no longer having to swim across streams to reach their farms, which was dangerous due to the pressure of the water. The contractor, Sam Sakabu Limited, has received praise for his work, and the District Chief Executive for North East Gonja, Abdul Mumin Ewuntomah, has called on the Ministry of Roads and Highways to ensure the contractor is paid in full.

The contractor financed the entire project without receiving any payment. Despite the completion of some portions of the road, the contractor is still awaiting awards for the remaining feeder roads in the area.
