Ashanti Regional Minister orders cessation of 24-hour market project construction in Mankranso

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has ordered the Ahafo Ano Southwest district to cease construction of the 24-hour market project and related activities. This directive comes after a video emerged on social media alleging that a school facility could be demolished to accommodate the market. In a Facebook post, Dr. Amoakohene reassured the public that the school has not been, nor will be, demolished.

He emphasized that the district assembly has been instructed to halt all related activities and summon relevant stakeholders for a thorough review. The District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano Southwest, Abubakar Sedik, dismissed the claims as "false, misleading, and politically motivated." He clarified that the classroom block in question was constructed in 2022 but remains unused.

Sedik stated that the market project is distinct from the school facility and that both initiatives are not interconnected. The Assembly, however, affirmed that the school remains a vital part of the community, continuing to serve residents. Sedik assured residents that no plans exist to demolish the school, reaffirming his dedication to supporting development projects that enhance living conditions in the Ahafo Ano South West District.
