Detectives in Embu County have apprehended another individual in connection with the violent outbreak at Deputy President Kithure Kindiki's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates' meeting on September 12, 2026. The suspect was apprehended on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Kithimu, Embu town, during a joint operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Branch (CRIB).
This arrest follows the violent unrest that erupted during the UDA meeting on Saturday, September 12, which resulted in the death of one person and injuries to several police officers. The DCI is actively pursuing additional suspects implicated in the violence, which left several motor vehicles burned and other criminal acts reported.
The agency stresses that political differences cannot justify criminal actions and will not tolerate lawlessness under any circumstance.
