41 Govt Schools in Lahore Face Action Over Poor Class 9 Results

The Punjab School Education Department has announced plans to take action against 41 government schools in Lahore due to their abysmal Grade 9 pass rates. These schools have failed to achieve a passing percentage of more than 20 percent in the recent annual examinations. As a result, show-cause notices will be issued to the heads and relevant teachers of these underperforming institutions, compelling them to provide explanations for their poor academic outcomes.

The department will conduct a thorough review of the performance of school administrators, educators, and other officials involved before deciding on any further disciplinary measures.

Government High School Wasanpura stands out as the worst-performing school, with a zero percent pass rate among its Grade 9 students. Similarly, 27 other government schools in Lahore have also recorded dismal results, with fewer than 10 students passing the examinations. The official statistics reveal that nearly 2,200 government schools across the Punjab province have similarly low pass rates in Grade 9.

The Punjab School Education Department is taking this decisive action in an effort to elevate education standards, boost student performance, and ensure accountability among schools that have consistently underperformed. Through this initiative, the department aims to identify the root causes of the weak results and hold those responsible for the shortcomings squarely accountable.
