Gold Fields Ghana Limited has awarded scholarships to 150 tertiary students from its host communities, emphasizing education as a key pillar of its community development efforts. At the 2026 Gold Fields Ghana Foundation Scholarship Awards Ceremony, Dr. Celestina Allotey, Vice President, Community, disclosed the scholarship amounts, which include academic facility user fees, accommodation, stipends, and approved learning materials.
Out of the 150 recipients, 86 were female students, and 50 had completed their basic education within the host communities. Since the scholarship program's inception, 3,092 students have benefited from the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation scholarship, and the Foundation has contributed to infrastructure development, including classroom blocks, furniture, and learning materials.
This year, Gold Fields will provide Toyota Hilux vehicles to support the monitoring activities of the Ghana Education Service in Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and Prestea Huni Valley Assembly. Professor Bernard Kumi Boateng, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology, praised Gold Fields for its significant investments in host communities, citing the Tarkwa Akoon Stadium and a $27 million asphalt road connecting Abosso to Damang as notable achievements.
He urged the company to build a dedicated faculty block at the UMaT campus. Robert Siaw, Sustainability Development Manager of Gold Fields, motivated the scholarship recipients to remain committed to their education.
