'Will teach you journalism': YouTuber thrashed by pradhan's husband in UP’s Bijnor over road videos

A YouTuber from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh has alleged he was assaulted and threatened after filming videos exposing poor road conditions and other civic issues in a village. The incident occurred on September 11 when the YouTuber's videos drew attention to the substandard state of local roads and infrastructure. According to the complaint filed with the police, Ramun alias Munshi, who identified himself as the husband of the village head (pradhan), assaulted the YouTuber and his supporters while leading him to the Kotwali Dehat police station.

One of the accused reportedly called the YouTuber a "bada patrakar" (big journalist) before assaulting him. The incident has highlighted the challenges faced by individuals using social media to report local issues, as well as the potential risks involved in raising public concerns about civic infrastructure. Police have registered a case and arrested two people, including the pradhan's husband, in connection with the alleged assault.

They are currently in judicial custody while the police investigate the allegations and the roles of the other accused individuals named in the complaint.
