UK breakup: Igbo religious leaders issue warning to British, Nigerian govts

Recent reports have surfaced regarding the potential leaders of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland meeting to discuss the prospect of breaking away from the United Kingdom. In response, Igbo religious leaders have issued a warning to both the British and Nigerian governments, urging them to consider the consequences of ignoring Nnamdi Kanu's call for a referendum on Biafra.

The United Kingdom is comprised of four nations: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. A successful referendum could lead to these three nations becoming independent countries, resulting in the breakup of the UK. Nnamdi Kanu, founder of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been imprisoned in Sokoto, Nigeria, on terrorism charges since 2020.

The Igbo religious leaders, through Concerned Igbo Ministers, have warned that the breakup movement in the UK is a direct consequence of the British government's cooperation with the Nigerian government in detaining and imprisoning Kanu. The ministers have stated that the self-determination movement in the UK is not a coincidence but a manifestation of the prophetic word and spiritual authority of Nnamdi Kanu.

They have called on both the Nigerian and British governments to release Kanu, hear his demand for a referendum, and cease the policy of collusion that has kept him imprisoned. If the governments refuse, the Igbo religious leaders warn that they will face the wrath that is currently affecting Britain and that the upcoming year will not be merciful to those who continue to hold Kanu captive.
