‘Trust of Global South in BRICS has grown’: PM Narendra Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Sunday that the trust of nations in the Global South for BRICS has increased due to their voices being heard and experiences being valued within the organization. Addressing the BRICS leaders' outreach summit, Modi also expressed concern over rising global tensions causing significant negative impacts on the lives of ordinary people.

He emphasized India's focus on enhancing resilience within BRICS to respond to challenges like pandemics, climate disasters, and supply-chain disruptions.

Modi announced several initiatives aimed at developing countries such as the BRICS Integrated Early Warning System for infectious diseases, the BRICS Logistics Supply Chain Cooperation Framework, the BRICS Incubator Network, the Startup Innovation Fund, the BRICS MSME Cooperation Portal, the Digital Centre of Excellence for Smart Grids and Energy Storage, the Urban Mobility Hub, and Centres of Excellence for Agro-Ecology and Regenerative Agriculture. He framed the summit as a testament to BRICS' growing strength, appeal, and trust.

India's priorities under Modi's chairmanship are Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability. He highlighted the BRICS Incubator Network for startups and incubators, the proposed BRICS Startup Innovation Fund, and the emphasis on making entrepreneurs, farmers, researchers, women, youth, and ordinary citizens active participants in BRICS cooperation.

Modi also highlighted BRICS' focus on balancing human development and the environment, as well as India's progress in energy security through the BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence for Smart Grids and Energy Storage.
