Trump says Zelenskyy 'has to stop' attacking Russian refineries

US President Donald Trump informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that he should cease targeting Russian diesel fuel refineries, stating it was causing global fuel shortages and harming other nations, according to a report from Ireland. Zelenskyy, during his visit to Ireland, was urged by Trump to shift focus to other targets rather than diesel fuel, as it was harming the world economy.

The two leaders discussed the heightened aggression from Ukraine against Russian oil refineries, which has led to an increase in civilian casualties. Both countries have ramped up their military efforts, with Kyiv launching numerous drone attacks and Moscow intensifying long-range missile strikes, including a recent attack on a passenger train headed to Warsaw.

The escalation of hostilities has also caused a surge in oil prices, affecting fuel costs and inflation in the United States, potentially leading to interest rate hikes ahead of the US midterm elections.
