Trump says Zelensky ‘has to stop’ attacking Russian refineries

US President Donald Trump warned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to halt attacks on Russian diesel fuel refineries, saying it was causing global shortages and hurting other nations, according to his remarks during a visit to Ireland. Zelensky was urged to target different sites, as the action against refineries was causing fuel scarcity, according to Trump.

He emphasized that the issue was not related to Middle Eastern issues but specifically linked to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Trump claimed to have recently discussed the topic with Zelensky. He noted that there were other targets available for the Ukrainian leader and reiterated his stance against attacking diesel fuel as it was causing widespread harm.

The Ukrainian forces have been launching a high volume of drone attacks on Russian oil refineries located hundreds of kilometers away from the Russian border, while Russia has intensified its missile strikes on Ukraine. This escalation has resulted in an increase in civilian casualties in both nations. On Sunday, a Russian drone targeted a passenger train en route to Warsaw from Kyiv, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The attacks were reported by both Warsaw and Kyiv. These incidents occurred days after US diplomats visited both Moscow and Kyiv in an attempt to revive peace talks aimed at resolving Europe's most severe conflict since World War II. The ongoing conflict has led to a surge in oil prices, contributing to rising fuel costs and inflation in the United States.

This has sparked speculation about potential interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve as Americans prepare for crucial midterm elections in November.
