Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya highlighted the significance of unity, mutual understanding, harmony, and art for leading fulfilling and happy lives in her remarks during the opening ceremony of an educational and cultural trade exhibition. The event, organized by the Wayamba Janakala Foundation and the Siyapatha Kala Sangamaya, aimed to revitalize the artistic heritage of the Seven Korales and foster a culturally empowered individual.

The festival took place at the Wayamba Janakala Centre from September 12 to 18, 2026, welcoming participants ranging from school students to adults.

During the event, the Prime Minister unveiled the Department of Education's stall and launched the Janakala Foundation's website. She also honored veteran artists, including Professor Mudiyanse Dissanayake, Nibiriyagama Bandara, Anton Coorey, and Charitha Wickramasinghe, for their exceptional contributions to the field of art. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of embracing a rapidly changing society while preserving our identity.

She noted that while economic prosperity is crucial, it is not the sole measure of a thriving nation. Instead, she stressed the need for unity, mutual understanding, and harmony, as well as the ability to navigate public spaces and maintain safety within society. The Prime Minister encouraged people to engage in conversations with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and languages, as these interactions broaden our perspectives and foster a deeper appreciation for the arts.

Throughout the exhibition, a variety of activities were held, such as film screenings, educational programs, workshops, and performing arts presentations. These events aimed to enrich the lives of the North Western Province's residents, highlighting that a 'rich' life encompasses more than just material wealth. The Prime Minister concluded by expressing her gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event and wished for the seven-day program to be an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
