Tinubu turns to BRICS for AI, digital infrastructure and critical minerals investment

Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu has called for increased collaboration with BRICS nations on artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, fintech, telecommunications, critical minerals, and advanced manufacturing. The Federal Government aims to attract investment and hasten economic development through this partnership.

At the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, Tinubu emphasized Nigeria's interest in infrastructure, connectivity, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, and industrialization, backed by development finance. The President stressed the need for BRICS cooperation to transcend traditional trade and investment, focusing on technology-driven sectors that will bolster Nigeria's productive capacity.

Moreover, Tinubu invited BRICS investors to capitalize on Nigeria's potential within Africa's expanding market under the African Continental Free Trade Area. Nigeria, a BRICS partner since January 2025, is championing the AfCFTA protocol on digital trade and investing in digital skills, entrepreneurship, research, artificial intelligence, and technology-driven businesses.
