Seme MP Nyikal challenges Ruto to complete all Nyanza development projects promised

President William Ruto addressed a church service in Kisumu on Sunday, September 13, 2026, marking four years since his inauguration as Kenya's fifth president. The event occurred at the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary. Ruto used this platform to discuss his administration's achievements in the economy, infrastructure development, and other key areas during the anniversary tour.

Reflecting on his inauguration, Ruto highlighted the significance of the date, noting that it coincided with his visit to Kisumu and his administration's four years in office. He drew a parallel to biblical teachings on God's timing, asserting that his government had delivered on promises made to Kenyans when he assumed office. Turning his attention to the economy, Ruto described the country's financial situation four years prior as dire, with high debt, inflation, a volatile exchange rate, and low foreign exchange reserves.

He claimed that these issues have since been rectified, attributing the progress to his administration and divine guidance. Now, Ruto stated confidently, Kenya's economy is stable, inflation has been reduced, exchange rates stabilized, and the country's foreign exchange reserves have increased by 2.5 times, positioning Kenya as the sixth-largest economy on the continent.

Additionally, Ruto emphasized his government's efforts to revive stalled road projects, which were impeded by debt owed to contractors. He disclosed that the government has repaid nearly KSh250 billion in outstanding debts to these contractors, enabling the resumption of construction. This has led to the commencement of 6,000 kilometers of road tarmac construction across Kenya.

The president's remarks followed his arrival in Kisumu for a four-day development tour encompassing Nyanza region's key cities of Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, and Homa Bay, where he will inspect and commission various infrastructure projects, including roads, markets, water systems, and housing.
