Raiders TE Brock Bowers May Not Miss as Much Time as Initially Feared

The Las Vegas Raiders will be without tight end Brock Bowers for their season opener against the Miami Dolphins due to a meniscus trim. Initially, Bowers was expected to miss a couple of weeks, but the team now believes he may only miss one game and return as early as Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders are optimistic about Bowers' recovery.

First-year head coach Klint Kubiak faced criticism last week for expecting Bowers to play against the Dolphins, but Kubiak later clarified that he had been optimistic about Bowers' return. While Bowers is recovering, tight end Michael Mayer, who signed a three-year, $45 million contract extension last week, will fill in and help the passing game. Mayer has 83 receptions for 788 yards and three touchdowns in his career.
